Responsibilities

As an Information Security Coordinator, you will contribute to developing and strengthening the university's systematic information security work. The role combines strategic responsibility for management systems and structure with operational work involving training initiatives, risk analyses, and information classification. Information security is a vital and central part of quality assurance in education and research, with the goal of strengthening the university's capability for good information security across the entire organization.

The Unit for Security, Information Management and Environmental Management includes functions for business continuity, physical security, data protection, information security, and information management. As the Information Security Coordinator, you will be part of a university-wide security forum. Over the next three years, you will focus on measures for implementing the new cybersecurity regulations.

The position is based in Västerås. Travel between the university's campuses in Västerås and Eskilstuna will occur. This can be done via a special bus that runs between our campuses every hour. You also have the opportunity to work remotely a few days a week by agreement with your manager.

The work is characterized by great flexibility and freedom, with certain busy periods. When handling information security incidents, work in the evenings or on weekends may occur to a limited extent. Overtime compensation will be paid for such work.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Leading, coordinating, monitoring, and developing the university's information security work
  • Developing internal regulations, methods, and processes based on legal requirements and monitoring compliance
  • Conducting information classification
  • Initiating risk assessments to identify and manage threats and vulnerabilities
  • Planning and conducting target-group-specific training, workshops, or other communication initiatives within information security
  • Supporting management, researchers, and other employees in assessments regarding information security
  • Handling emerging information security incidents
  • Monitoring the external environment and following developments in the field

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Academic education or other education that the employer deems relevant for the position
  • Documented work experience in the field of information security or another security-related area that the employer deems relevant, giving you confidence to navigate complex issues while contributing to knowledge enhancement within the organization
  • Experience working with risk analyses and information classification
  • Good ability to express yourself well in both speech and writing in Swedish and English

Merits

For this position, it is an asset to have:

  • Relevant education in information security
  • Experience leading work with risk analyses and information classification
  • Practical experience in developing an organization's information security work in accordance with recognized standards and frameworks, such as the ISO/IEC 27000 series
  • Knowledge of or experience with information security from a physical security perspective and regarding compliance with the NIS Directive
  • Knowledge within IT and cybersecurity
  • Understanding of how IT security and data protection function and how they relate to information security
  • Experience in developing and promoting activities to achieve a good security culture
  • Work experience from a Swedish authority, preferably from the university and college sector
  • Experience in coordinating and conducting information and training initiatives
